M Series Remote IOs with Logic Solver

I have a situation for system selection where we have M series controller with Normal IOs then we have Safety IOs and we also have Remote IOs(Normal+ Safety both), Please advise system architecture?

For remote IOs do we have to use separate controller with logic solvers?

Can M-series remote IO scanner be used?

Can we use AS-I cards with them?

One M series controller can have Local IO cards and SLS 1508 Logic solvers, and can have up to 16 Remote IO nodes. Each IO channel counts toward the maximum DST limit of the controller (750 for MQ, MD/MDPLUS; 1500 for MX).

The Remote IO channels update at 100 ms rate. You can check Books On Line for the supported IO cards on the Remote IO units.

You do not need to use a separate controller for the Remote IO.
