Simatec ET 200M Profibus communication with Deltav

Dear readers,

I would like to estabilish a communication between DeltaV Profibus card and  Siemens Simatec ET 200M PB device.

Do you know any guideline how to do the configuration? I know that in some cases one IO slot in ET 200M is not the same as slots in the DeltaV Profibus Card (we need to add dummy slots and so).

Thanks for the answer,

Gabor

  • If you are not getting matching slots assignment, you probably don't have the updated GSD file installed in DeltaV to have those slots available. Go to the Profibus foundation and get the updated GSD file or ask your Vendor.
    One thing about Profibus devices, you need to create all valid slots assignment or the device will throw back errors.
  • hello ;

    i think that you should have the right GSD file in order to have all slots available .after you can configure your signals

    Best regards.

  • First of all you need to have the right GSD file as pointed out allready.

    Then you can add the device(s) under your Profibus port.

    Based on the configuration of I/O modules in the ET-200 device you can add the Profibus Slots under your device. Please note that the Slots must match the modules in the ET-200 device exactly! For an ET 200M (IM153) the first three slots must be configured with Config for Slot1, Config for Slot2 and Config for Slot3. For empty positions in the ET-200 device DUMMY slots must be inserted in the Profibus Slot assignment. See example in below pciture.

    I forgot to mention that after a download of changed settings for a device it usually is required to power cycle the ET-200 device.
