Profibus Communication Master to Master

Hi,

In one of our customer site we are establishing communication between DeltaV Profibus DP card 1 Port Series 2 Card with Atlas COPCO make mk5 model Gateway.

In this case both devices are Masters.  In one of the forum discussion I read that to communicate between master to master we require DP coupler which acts as slave for these two masters.

Please suggest if communication can be established succefully by using this DP coupler.

Currently without any coupler inbetween, the communication getting initialized and again goes bad in 10 seconds and Profibus card goes to power off and the cycle restarts again.  As per my analysis there is no any problem in my Profibus DP card.  Also there is no problem in Gateway as the third party verified the data in their laptop.  Also we checked for any short in Profibus cable.  Is this card getting restarted problem is due to when I connect with other master without DP coupler inbetween??

  Once we established a communication between GE Rx3i and abb 800xa via profibus. As both are profibus master we used dp dp coupler in between and no problem what so ever in commn. I think you also need dp dp coupler because two master can not talk to each other without a coupler. I don't have any hand on experience on deltav regarding this but the basic principle should be same.

  The DeltaV DP is a master only, class 1. So it cannot respond as a all to the other master. It cannot serve data. If the other master is also the same they cannot pop each other. Coupler is needed.
