Ok you can form a ring as well, you have to use optical link modules to translate the DP RS485 signal to floating optical signal.

The segment physical topology is not defined by DeltaV.  The DeltaV Profibus Master is typically assigned address 1, and if redundant, the standby is at address 0.  The DeltaV terminal block provides an option terminator (Set jumper "in" or "out" as needed.  There are different repeaters and converters available from various manufacturers that allow you to build the physical segment.  Typically, Profibus DP is a main trunk that connects multipl devices on the RS485 cable.  This bus is terminated at each end.  Repeaters allow you to extend the bus.  You can convert to Fiber Optic for longer distances and noise immunity, but have to convert back to copper to connect devices. I beleive there is a Ring topology using special repeaters.  But all this is outside the scope of DeltaV.
