Hide specific advisory alarms in Alarm Banner

How do I hide specific advisory alarms in the alarm banner yet still have them displayed in the Alarm List?

  • Use the Alarm Threshold settings as defined in the usersettings.grf file. (see books on line article 'Alarm Thresholds')

    http://www3.emersonprocess.com/systems/support/bol1231/c_alarmthresholds.html

By default, workstations are defined to show and annunciate all (priorities 4 -15) process alarms, SIS process alarms, and SIS hardware alarms. By default, workstations are defined to show and annunciate a subset (priorities 8 - 15) of hardware alarms, device alarms, and SIS device alarms.....these alarms are still visible to the operator in the Alarm Summary display, in user-defined graphics and in the Event Chronicle

You configure the section 'Alarm threshold initialization' in usersettings.grf (once duplicated from user_ref.grf) and change the alarm priority threshold for process/device/hardware alarms displayed in the banner.

So your specific alarms need to be below the at or below threshold priority specified in the usersettings file.  You can be more complicated and make the thresholds dynamic, if need be.
