Unable to restore Pro plus database from Restore option available in DV database Administration

Hello All

I was trying to import our Latest database configuration backup taken from the proplus (taken from backup option of DV database Administration ) on our DeltaV Laptop from Restore option available in DV database Administration. Both the Proplus and the DeltaV laptop have the same deltav versions 11.3.1.

I encountered the following issues:

1. Initially the restore utility in DV database Administration kept on giving an error of folder path mismatch,

this issue was resolved by creating and keeping the backup under the same folder path in the destination machine as the folder path where the backup was created in the original Proplus machine, has anyone else also encountered this? Any other fix or workaround?

2. On opening the DeltaV explorer after restoring the database, the proplus name in the restored database is different than the laptop , it is the name of the machine from where the backup was taken, When I try to create a proplus or re run the workstation configuration again, it fails giving an error with message saying, "rename the workstation to match the proplus name in the import file". Has any one else also experienced this, Any solution or work around?

Waiting for any feedback or help

Thanks

DS

  • The database backup is intended for restoring the database to the same machine from which it was made. The meta data in the backup instructs the restore utility on where to find the backup, which is where it was made. Coupled with a complete machine restoration, the backup folders would be the same, as would the machine name and such.

My suggestion would be to do as indicated and rename the computer to match the database. Once you have the database open, you can export to FHX, return the computer name you want for the Pro Plus, create a new database which will create a new Pro Plus with Workstation Configuration. Then import the FHX. This will discard the old Pro Plus and keep the one defined in your new database, with the new name.

For moving a configuration from one system to another, the recommended method is to Export to FHX and import. If you are renaming the computer, as far as software is concerned, that is a different system.

Hello Andre, Thanks for the reply. This is noted. Will use fhx file for the database import. Thanks
