DeltaV User Manager User Locks

Greetings,

I'm a bit new to the DeltaV system's so my questions may have obvious answers to most.  While in the User Manager area under the "Locks" page i have User Locks 1-10, in the properties of said locks the description is blank.  Are the Locks predefined in DeltaV Online Books?  Are those locks user defined?  I made a new login for the Plant Operators with only operate rights but we have a few totalizers that need to be reset every 12 hours.  Is there a straightforward way to only allow the operators to reset the totalizers without giving them more rights then needed or defining a Lock?

  You cannot add more locks, but DeltaV provides some "spares" to do with what you will. The user locks are intended to be renamed to something meaningful to you and, optionally, given meaningful descriptions. For resetting totalizers, add the parameter "OP_CMD_INT" to parameter security with the lock that you renamed. For those users that you want to be able to reset the totalizers, give them the key for the lock you renamed for whatever plant area(s) they need: Site Wide, or some subset of plant areas. You will need to download setup data to get the new lock/parameter security/user info downloaded to the various nodes and the operator will need to log out and back in if they were already logged in. Bear in mind that DeltaV security is not on a per-module basis, but on a Plant Area basis. If you give your selected operators the privilege of resetting those totalizers, they will be able to reset any totalizer in the same plant area(s). If all operators are allowed to reset totalizers, you can make sure that OP_CMD_INT is assigned the operate lock (usually "Control"). For something to consider, if the totalizers need to be reset every 12 hours, you can also make that function a part of those control modules and let it happen automatically without requiring operator intervention.

  Excellent. Where is the parameter security located? Is this added within the Control Studio? Or is this added in the User Manager?

  Parameter Security (associating a lock with a parameter) is located in DeltaV Explorer under Settings -> Security. Giving a user (or a group) a key to that lock is in User Manager. For more info, search in BOL for "DeltaV Locks".
