DeltaV Profibus DP card 1 as master while card 2 as slave device

Is it possible to make the Profibus DP card 1 of DeltaV as master while card 2 as slave? Thanks for your answers.

Just wanted to put my shortest answer ever out there.

The DeltaV Profibus cards do not act as Slave devices and so would not provide any data via Profibus about DeltaV. You would need a "two headed" Slave device that DetlaV could write data to, and the other master could come and read.

With DeltaV Profibus redundant masters, the standby is always at address 0, so you cannot place two of these on the same segment as they would conflict on their standby address. You can use Simplex cards at different addresses on the same segment.

Profibus uses a token to enable only one master at a time on the segment. The token is passed to each master who then completes his communications requirements, and so on. A Class 2 Master is often use to access data for maintenance purposes, such as getting HART data from an IO device that supports HART.

So if you do have multiple masters, the scan time of the bus will be the sum of all devices under all the masters. A Slave can only belong to one Class 1 master (unless it is a special device that acts as two slaves. I think there was a post a while back that talked about this.) If the other Master can act as a Slave, then DeltaV master could write data to it.
