Controller Upgrade Version 12.3.1

I have added a controller to my network which I intend to use as a development/testing controller. I need to upgrade its Firmware to Version 12.3.1 which is where the rest of my system is at. I'm having trouble finding the files (I believe .idf extension) that I will need in order to so.

Is there a place where I can download them? I inherited this system with the original disks which are for version 7. And the disks that were used for the upgrades seem to be missing.

  • You can download the iso's for the correct version from Guardian support.

  • Flashing controllers and such involves the Controller upgrade utility which manages what files are passed to the controller. So you should not be dealing with specific file extensions and the like. The files you need are installed with the DeltaV software, or through installation of hotfixes, which are made available to Guardian Users.

So if your system is at version 12.3.1, and you need to upgrade the Firmware of your new controller to match your system software, the required files are already on the system. You simply need to commission the controller onto the system and then use the Controller Upgrade Utility, under all programs in the start mene: DeltaV/ Installation. The utility will step you through selecting the controller to be upgraded and shows you the current firmware.

If you are needing to upgrade your system to 12.3.1, then you must obtain the installation media, which as Maarten states, is available to Guardian users. You would also need the requisite major version license for v12, which you get if you have Guardian support.

If you do not have Guardian Support, please contact your local Emerson Service provider.
