Unable to display the status of the digital input (1 as "alarm", 0 = "normal") in the graphics

In the graphics configure mode, I copied a working dynamo and pasted it to another page for the alarm status of another device connected to DeltaV DCS.

Then, I changed the parameter and linked it to the module.

The module has no error or whatsoever since the value is good in online mode.

But the new dynamo is in magenta and the value is showing ******.

What could be the problem?

The difference between the two dynamo (the original and the copied one) is just the module reference.

Thanks for your answers.

  • It is not clear from you description, but as a dynamo, there should have been a dialog presented that allows you to redirect the dynamo to a new module. Depends on the dynamo. If you copied the dynamo and went into the objects and modified a parameter, you may not have changed everything needed. The ***** indicate the value for that link is not present.

If you select the dynamo in question and then use the Edit/Find menu, and search for DVSYS, you should see all the DeltaV links in the dynamo and all of them should point to your module. You can compare this with the original dynamo that works to find what might be wrong. If you omitted DVSYS or used .CV in stead of F_CV, that would explain why the path is not working. Result clearly indicates the path is not valid.

  • Hi Rein,

Possible Reason: Sometimes, it is caused due to Copy/Pasting of dynamo.
Possible Solution: Always drag and drop dynamo from the dynamo set rather than copy/pasting.

  • Hi Rein,

Sometimes a dynamo has links to specific graphic variables or variables in the dynamo itself. When you copy the dynamo to an another graphic these graphics names are not always updated.
It can help to save the whole graphic with the save/as function. Unfortunately, this does not always work.

    Hello Andre,
That's what I just did. Copied the dynamo from a graphic page and pasted to another graphic page then by double-clicking on it, a dialog will appear. Then I just changed the module name it is linked to. And by checking all the parameters inside the dynamo by going to the left pane of the page and right-clicking and select properties, I could see that all parameter links have changed from previous module to new a module.
  • Does the module referenced by the dynamo copy have all the same parameters of the module referenced by the original dynamo? If the dynamo is calling for a parameter (or several) that the original module has, but the copy module does not, then the dynamo won't be able to resolve the path. I would have expected that you would have received a pop-up error message, when in Operate run mode, about the parameters that the dynamo can't resolve (sometimes the pop-up error messages appear only after a delay).

I've been doing this "copy and pasting" of dynamo before and I was 100% sure that there should be no issues.
Today, as I energized the Proplus and open the graphics, I just found out that the dynamo is working.
Could it be a flaw in the DeltaV?
