Deltav Simulate problems

Can any one suggest a way out . i'm trying to build a deltav

Simulate station with DV 8.3 dongle and DV 12.3 software . For older configs . it works perfect . But if i try to import a DV 12.3 based configuration , the simulate station cannot download giving : RT_ index out of range " error .

Can anyone tell me what this error is ?? . And how to overcome .

My DV 12.3 system is on the way and it is a month before i get the system at factory . I want to utilize this one month to train my staff in new software but this error is letting me do this .

  • I believe this is because of the additional engineering units/ setup data components from DeltaV 12.3. I faced the same problem and didn't really find any solution to this. But I suppose you can verify that setup data components are identical including named sets, engineering units and alarm priorities. Then export control strategies separately (without setup data) and control network separately. Then attempt an import.

  • The situation you are running into is that in DeltaV 12.3 there are new features and license requirement with is not support or missing from your DeltaV v8.3 dongle. Typically DeltaV system is backward compatible that is why your previous configuration is working but going forward, you will need to ask your Emerson rep to upgrade your dongle to V12.3 so it be compatible or call Global Service Center for assistant to swap out your dongle. You might be able to request to expedite the replacement.
  • The new dongles mentioned by Tinh have an internal clock that is required when licensing the system with some of the new time based licenses. You should get the Dongle updated, but it may not be the dongle that is the source of this issue.

Since the system is running v12.3, and you have downloaded successfully other configurations, it seems the issue is not the dongle, but something in the configuration. As Pernendu mentioned, slicing up the configuration and downloading it progressively should help narrow the issue. If you un-assign all the modules from the Pro Plus, are you able to download it successfully? If so, start adding modules back in until the issue occurs. Were there any warnings or errors during the Import? The ImportExportProgress.log file is located in the DVDATA folder, but if you have imported or exported since then, it will be overwritten.

If the system is covered under Guardian support, you should log a call with the GSC, or report to your Emerson Service provider.

  • I had exactly the same problem a year ago, for which I opened an isue here, but can't find this back... (about oct/nov 2014).
I had to import configuration from 12.3.1 and did this on a 12.3 simulation machine. It appeared that in 12.3.1 some named sets were added, which were used in the 12.3.1 configuration.
Updating the virtual machine to 12.3.1 solved the problem.
It had nothing to do with the dongle. So update your simulation machine to 12.3.1.
