Unable to browse DeltaV OPC Server from OPC Mirror

I am trying to integrate DeltaV OPC server with HIMA OPC server. Connection to both servers has been established as confirmed using the Watchit tool. But after creating a pipe i get the error message "Unable to browse server". Reading through a similar post on this forum, same problem was solved after registering some Dll files. I've done the registration yet the problem persist. I will appreciate if someone can assist on how to solve this problem.

Thank you

  • Hi Moizsawa,

is one of the servers a client, or are you trying a server to server connection?

    "OPC HDA Client Connectivity

OPC HDA clients may be installed on the Application Station and connect locally to the DeltaV OPC History Server

or they may be installed on non-DeltaV workstations and connect remotely to the DeltaV OPC History Server. If an

OPC HDA client is installed on a non-DeltaV workstation, the DeltaV OPC client utility OPC Remote must be

installed on the non-DeltaV workstation. OPC Remote is required on the non-DeltaV workstation in order to

establish client connection to the DeltaV OPC History Server. Installing the OPC Remote utility on the non-DeltaV

workstation will create a DeltaV Admin account and install and register the appropriate OPC proxy/stub DLLs

required by the DeltaV OPC History Server. To install the OPC Remote utility, use the setup file located in the OPC

Remote directory on the DeltaV Installation DVD (Disk 1, DV_Extras\OPCRemote.exe). The version of OPC

Remote must be the same as the installed version of the DeltaV system software."

    Hi Niklas,

    Thank you for your reply.
I am trying to achieve a Server to server connection. I've installed OPC Remote on the non DeltaV system, configured the mirror and created a pipe. I have established connection with both servers and even monitored inputs through both servers using the OPCWatchit.exe utility.
My challenge currently is the inability to browse the DeltaV OPC through OPC Mirror, which is hindering me from mapping.

    Thank you

I had the same problem. You need to log into windows as the common user between both computers (same password required), you are most likely getting an access denied error because the other OPC server does not recognize the user you are logged in as. I had to recreate the user in deltav user manager to give it administrative and windows desktop access.

I have even tried to run the opc mirror configuration as the common user but still have the same issue.

kindly share, when you are able to overcome the challenge.

You should be able to map points without the ability to browse. You only need to type in the path on the item configuration, which you can determine using the local OPCWatchit client which should be able to browse. In any case the path is always of the format MODULE/[COMPOSITE]/[FUNCTION BLOCK]/PARAMETER.FIELD (where [COMPOSITE] and [FUNCTION BLOCK] may or may not exist, and [COMPOSITE] may be nested within another [COMPOSITE]
