Unable to read values from OPC Mirror Diagnostic and unable to browse third part OPC server from OPC Mirror Configuration when opening a pipe.

I am facing some OPC Mirror coms issues between one DeltaV server machine and a third part OPC server called Cameron OPCserver.

The OPC Mirror is running and no error messages on the Diagnostic Messages bar.

From the OPC Mirror  Diagnostic,  when open a pipe and try to monitor some tags, the information is: PC_NO_QUALITY_NO_VALUE

When trying to open a pipe from the OPC Mirror Configuration, the server connection warning is: Unable to browse server Cameron.OPCserver : Unable to connect to OPC server. Please use the New Mapping menu choice on the Pipe menu to configure your mappings.

I have run the OPCWatchIt using the Cameron OPCserver IP address and I am able to monitor tags from the Cameron server with no error.

From OPC Mirror configuration, I am able also to validate Mapped items with no validation error *but* the value from the Cameron OPC server side is not being written to DeltaV OPC Mirror  side.

Is there any one that faced this issue before or familiar with it?

Your help is more than well come.

Thanks

  • I wouldn't worry about the browse feature in configuration mode, it's not a requirement for run time function.
Are you running the mirror service as the same user as is running the opcwatchit test client? I assume Cameron is running on a different server and mirror is running on the deltav OPC server machine. Have you confirmed that same user can read from Cameron AND write to the Deltav OPC tags?
Lastly, take a look at the windows application log when you start the OPC mirror service and see what events are generated.

  • Most of the time this a windows dcom issue related to the services. Did it work and then stop or is this a new connection? Also you have to be licensed for those opc points.
