I have a DeltaV Simulate Multi-node license that I'm currently using with VMWare for configuration. I also have 4 Professional station licenses so I can support multiple users by hosting remote uses on the ProPlus. Can I created a virtual Professional station in VMWare and a virtual network to let it be on the same network as the ProPlus and do the same thing as having a remote user on the ProPlus? I'm trying to get around the issue of only have one instance of Operate open at a time on the ProPlus so more than one person can configure graphics.
Yes, it should be no problem. We also have simulate multi-node with 4 stations. We have two laptops with DeltaV installed on them (proplus+professional) and two other laptops hosting one virtual machine each (professional stations) all on the same network.
The IP address of the hosting laptops does not matter, but you should set the virtual station's network card to "bridged". www.vmware.com/.../network_bridged_ws.html
If you have multiple network cards, bridge only the one you use for the control network.
In reply to István Orbán:
VMware won't let me set up VMnet2 or 3 as bridged. I get the error message saying there are no un-bridged adapters in the host machine.
In reply to Bruce Brandt:
How many network adapters do you have in the physical machine?
