Hi Everyone,
I could not find any indication in BOL about the proper ethernet cables to use with an S-series VIM2 card.
I see that the two sockets on the card are different: the redundancy link is plastic and the VIMNet is metal.
So, what kind of Ethernet cable to use for the VIMNet? Like in the case of controllers, one end of the cable should have a metal connector, the other one not? Should we use CAT5 cables?
Thank you,
Istvan

Istvan,
I am an Application Engineer at MYNAH Technologies and I published an article on this topic. The shielding rules for the VIMs are exactly the same as for the DeltaV Controllers because the two are based off of the same internal design. The RJ45 shield grounds the VIM's Faraday cage at the switch so shielded connectors should be used on both ends.

István,
I think the information you're looking for is in the Mynah Knowledge base. Take a look at the following link:
This doesn't talk about the Redundancy link cable, however, I believe the cable you get for the VIM redundancy link is unshelieded.Feel free to give Mynah a call if you have anymore questions, they have great support and can answer your questions right away!
