Control Module Lock

Recently I have been requested by Process team to lock one of our Control Module which is it can't be operated by Operator Level. (Control Module for valve). They must and cannot even from faceplate and control module. If we try to use Parameter Security Properties e.g: SP_D, they will include all control module not specific. If there anyone could give and advice or suggestion for this matter would be good for us to implement it on site. Thanks in advance.

  • A few quick ways.
    1. Change the permitted modes to allow CAS only. Prevents operator from changing from Faceplate.
    2. Create a force setpoint in the DCC block that always forces the SP to the position you want.
    3. Create a standalone CM that continuously writes to the SP and or the CAS_IN_D.
    4. Update the state mask to have the output the same regardless of the SP. This can be changed online by an engineer when required.
    5. Create new module class with a parameter SP_RESTRICT and wire that parameter to the SP of the DC block. That parameter can be set for any lock you require without affecting other valve.

Just a few thoughts. I am sure there are many other ways to do this also.

You can also put it into a different plant area that would not have permissions for operators. Parameter security is by plant area.
