DeltaV Live Display Locked

Hi,

Currently a DeltaV Live Display is "Locked" by me on another workstation. But when I check DeltaV Live Administration and Database Administration, Graphics Studio is not open anywhere. Does anyone know is there a process/service/task I need to end (maybe from task manager) to release it?

Thanks,

Donal

  • I have had the same situation occur. However in my situation this occurred on a single node Simulate machine. Could not figure out how to unlock a display that was locked by me. Found that when I un-installed the WS hotfix the display became unlocked. I then re-installed the WS hotfix and moved on. Originally found this by un-installing a previous version to go the to latest WS hotfix version. Since I have had this happen one other time. It still works when you un-install the current WS HF and re-install the same version.

A display can become locked in the database when it is opened for edit in a session of Graphics Studio and the session ends abnormally. When you launch Graphics studio and try to open this display, it indicates it is locked by another user, even though there is no other Graphics Studio session running.

Using the DeltaV LIve Administration tools, use the database connections icon to view the connections. If you see a Connection that does not align with any open connections, you can close that connection and liberate whatever was locked by it. You can use the date Time of the connection to determine which is the "abandoned" connection, or you can close out all current Graphic Studio sessions and the one remaining is the one to remove.

Restarting the services after applying a WS hotfix would also remove this lock, but you shouldn't have to take that drastic an action to simply remove a session locking a display.

Agree with above answer in details. Go into below Path for how unlocked the file is,
Open Deltav Live administration> click on Show Database connections> find the unwanted connection by open by same user or another > select that session > disconnect it.
