DeltaV Insight - Adaptive Tuning - Learning Setup tab greyed out and inaccessible

I am trying to add more loops to monitor in our DeltaV InSight software. I can enable learning for these loops, but for some reason the LEARNING SETUP tab is greyed out and inaccessible.

Is there something that needs enabled or turned on to allow access to the LEARNING SETUP tab so I can adjust the settings for Adaptive Tuning to evaluate these loops?

Thanks in advance,

  • This isn't a complete answer, but I hope it points you in the right direction. From Books Online: "Once InSight is opened for tuning, the system creates models if Process Learning is enabled and uses the models in Adaptive Control if licenses are assigned to PID blocks running in the controller. The InSight user interface consists of the hierarchy in the left pane and seven pages: Overview, On-Demand Tuning, Adaptive Tuning, Adaptive Control, Models Viewing, Learning Setup, and Simulate. When Process Learning is enabled but no licenses are assigned, the Adaptive Control page is not active. When Process Learning is enabled and licenses are assigned, are pages are active."

I tried assigning an Adapt license to the test PID block I made, and it turned on the Adaptive Control tab, but Models Viewing and Learning Setup were still grayed out. So, my best guess is that it's a licensing issue, but I don't use InSight with any regularity, so I can't be of any more help. I would suggest opening a call with Guardian Support or calling your local Impact Partner. This seems like one of those things that should be easy for them to answer.

Thanks Bryce! I had seen that note from the books online also about licensing. So I started looking at the other menus in InSight for anything about Licensing. What I ended up finding was a setting for "EXPERT" on the Options Menu. When I enabled that it also enabled the LEARNING SETUP tab. So I was able to get to what I wanted to look at. Still learning all the ins and outs of this tool, but at least I know how to enable these 'Expert' features if needed!

Thank you! I was trying to help you out, but you wound up teaching me something.
