CMF flow meters communication isue

Dear all,

I am using CMF meters which connected to the Third party transmitters. Transmitter doesn't detect the Mass flow meter. It error communication flow meter. According the Transmitters Maker, He informed me that the firmware is changed according to his Specification in core processor of CMF meters.   Is that possible to change the firmware according to his specfication. Whether firmware in core processor is customized?

  • Sorry but first of all I think we need to have more specifics in regards of the connection to the third party transmitter.
What sort of connection are you using?
Is this a digital connection via MODBUS or HART?
Are you able to connect to the core with ProLink?
What sort of application is this?

Thanks for coming back with the details.
    Best regards
    Thomas

    Application is Fuel Measurement.
It is communicating with the Pro Link. but i am not able to Communicate with the Third party transmitter
Transmitter by AVL List Gmbh. They are not ready to give the Specs. They just reply that they flash their firmware in to the sensor inorder to communicate with the software. Emerson standard firmware will not work with there transmitter.

If you can see the mass flow with ProLink I would think that the sensor itself is functioning properly.
So the question is why the AVL transmitter is not communicating with the core.
Are you using RS-485/MODBUS to communicate with the AVL transmitter?
Have you checked if the settings of the CMF match with the AVL? (baud rate, stop bit, parity, address)
  • In reply to Thomas Otten:

I am not able to find the AVL setting in the Mass flowmeter through PROlink 2. I have changed the Baud rate ,stop bit, parity address. there is no effect on this.
  • In reply to sriram:

Do you know the communication settings of the AVL unit?
These settings need to match the settings of the mass flowmeter.
Have you checked polarity of the connection to the AVL unit?
Do you have a manual for the AVL unit?
  • In reply to Thomas Otten:

These settings are not mentioned in Manual.
For Polarity i have cross checked the polarity seems to be OK.
AVL claim firmware changes that I can be made by them only.
  • In reply to sriram:

There are two issues at hand which need to be resolved:
    a) you need to make sure that the AVL unit is communicating to the CMF
    b) once communication is established you need to check if the AVL unit is reading the right parameters

Both issues should be adressed with AVL.
Can you bring your local Emerson representative in contact with AVL?
