DeltaV M series spares

Dear Gents

I need your support as I am trying to buy system spares for an old M series hardware but  i checked PDS for both IOs and controller and i found the following:

- The controller has two different numbers with two different shapes CE3007 and VE3007.

- IO has the same part number for new and old shapes.

so is old shape obsolete and how can i order shapes for them in order to differentiate.

thanks in advance.

  • The new refreshed M-series controllers are backward compatible and should be ordered as replacement for the earlier versions of the MX controller. VE3007 is still the correct part number for the MX controller. See PDS at www.emerson.com/.../product-data-sheet-deltav-mx-controller-deltav-en-57726.pdf

    Thanks Sir

That means if I order the new controller shape it could be installed on the same 2 wide carriers online with redundant old controller shape and is this valid for the IO as well.

Just how old is this system?

If you have all Series 2 cards, the current products are drop in replacements as Rune stated.

The original DI 24 VDC dry contact card was a low side sensing circuit. The Series 2 DI 24 VDC Dry contract is a high side sense circuit with low side terminal connected to ground. You can still see the original and Series 2 simplified wiring diagrams in BOL, which shows both with the contact wired back to the channel terminals. If you don't have any of these original DI cards, then you have nothing to check.

If you have the original DI card, confirm that the field wiring has been done with pairs of wires from card to contact. Some users took advantage of the low side sense and wired a single wire back from the contacts and used external power to the field contacts. When a Series 2 card is installed with this wiring, it shorts the signal to ground if the contact is closed.
