How to use the DVCHDUMP windows command line action?

Hi All,

I am trying to use the DVCHDUMP command in the windows command line.

I am trying to get raw sample values (or maybe raw history values) for a specific DeltaV tag. Has anyone done this and can give an example? I am not sure what the input for the command looks like?

  • For a data analytics project I was asked to extract all historian data from the system, 6 years of data for 3000 tags.
For this I used DVCHDUMP in multiple ms-dos batch files. Be aware DVCHDUMP isn't really a supported tool and could crash the historian process in worst case. So I never left the scripts running unsupervised. Tool also fails when exporting more than a limit value that I can't remember atm.

The basic syntax in version 14 is for instance:
    C:\DeltaV\DVUtilities\dvchdump raw KBS12345/DC1/PV_D.CV "2020/01/01 00:00:00" "2020/05/01 00:00:00" >D:\YourOutputFolder\KBS12345_DC1_PV_D.CV.txt

In version 12 the tool is located in: C:\DeltaV\bin\
