How to unassigne module from Continuous Historian Subsystem of a WorkStation

My aim was to see trends in PHV for some modules on the workstation(EWS).

I added an area to the continuous history subsystem of the EWS,. I tried to download but I was prompted: " One or more modules have a control level of regulatory or batch Please unassign the following module before downloading" There was a list of 4 modules to unassign

I went to those modules under the assigned modules subsystem of the continuous historian of this EWS, right clicked on it selected "delete assignment". Then tried downloading the workstation node. I got the same p error prompt but this time without a list of modules. Please somebody help me on how to get out of this mess as to have a successful download. Please

  • Hi,

I am assuming that you have deleted these modules from workstation as well (i.e. Download >> Delete From Workstation). If not then you need to delete the online version of the control modules as well. Just deleting the assignment will not completely remove the modules from the system. If you have deleted them from workstation online version then also check if similar modules (control or batch type) are assigned either to ProPlus or other APP stations on the system.

Thanks for response, but delete from work station is not there. When I right click the EWS, >>Download,>>ProffesionalPlus Station, Setup data, Change Setup data) , there is no Delete from workstation

You need to expand the EWS in the system tree then click on the "Assigned Modules" then locate the modules that you deleted on the right side window. Once you find those module you can right click on them to download>> Delete From Workstation.

It appears from the original post that the user did attempt to download the workstation after unassigning the modules. And the Verification dialog reported an issue but was blank as to the details. It would be useful to know what version of DeltaV, and if this is a current supported release.

As girishmb1 indicates, confirm in explorer under the EWS/Assigned Modules, do you still see the modules? If so, they should only indicate one Icon indicating it is unassigned, but still exists in run time. If so, select one module and right click and see if you can Delete the Modules one at a time. let us know if this works.

I'm wondering why you assigned the modules to the EWS if all you wanted to do was trend them? By assigning these modules to a plant area, you would be able to create a collection of modules with a sum of historical tags that is less than 250 tags. this would allow you to assign this area to any DeltaV Workstations "Continuous Historian" container, and historize the data in that workstation. You do not have to assign the modules to the workstation.

Also, you can view any module in PHV, regardless of where it historized. And you can view any parameter in PHV as a real time trend.

Back you your original explanation, it sounds like you wish to configure the 250 tag historian on an EWS, and to that end, you assign the area to the Continuous Historian, not assigned Modules.
