Converting datasets from Advanced Continuous Historian to DeltaV Continuous Historian (DeltaV13.3.1)

Hello,

does anybody know, if it is possible to convert datasets created by Advanced Continuous Historian to DeltaV Continuous Historian (DeltaV13.3.1)?

If I remember well, there was a conversion utility in DeltaV 7.4.1, but no idea if it is possible in version 13.3.1

  • That is a good question. Books Online explains the conversion utility works on the "Legacy Historian" and specifies the v11.3.1 version. Support for the Legacy historian was halted in v12 and replaced with support for the Enterprise Historian, and Advanced Historian.

Note, that nowhere in BOL is there any mention of the supported version of OSI PI Enterprise historian for Advanced Historian or Enterprise Historian. The Legacy Historian is implied to be the version from v7.3, but I cannot find any mention of PI Software version.

The PI system must be running to use the utility. PI Archives contain data and indices, but no tag information. The Tag database gives context to the content of the Archives. The real question is whether the version of PI you are using as the Advanced historian supports the same API calls and data structures the utility requires to run. If so, it should work.

So the easiest thing will be to try it. If someone has run this, hopefully they can confirm the version of PI they were using.
