Process History Default Colors

We recently upgraded from DeltaV version 11.3.1 to 13.3.1. After the upgrade the default colors in Process history reset and the process value defaults to a bright yellow which is very difficult to see. How can I permanently change the default trend colors for standard faceplate trends? Also, how do I push those changes out to individual workstations?

I tried setting the chart theme under View|Options and selecting the Light Blue Theme under Chart and Theme Preferences. This will temporarily reset the trend colors, but the next time I open the trend, the colors are reset.

You will want to change this from the Chart library so that effects all the trends opened.

So from Windows Explorer on the Proplus go to D:\DeltaV\DVData\Charts\lib
The three most used charts are AALM_fp, AI_fp, and Loop_fp. If you have custom one we will need to identify their names.
Right click on each and go to Properties. Uncheck Read Only.

    Do this for each type:
Double click the file to open in Process History View, example AI_fp.
From menu, select View and Options
You will see a tab that says Chart Preferences
You can choose one of the preset colors or pick manual and click the gray box and select whichever background color works for your operators. Black is probably the most popular choice.
Click ok on the box when done and then save, you will need to write over the existing file, example AI_fp.
In order for the other operator stations to see the changes, you will need to do a download from the ProPlus using DeltaV Explorer on each Operator Station. It is safe to download workstations, just do not download the controllers.

Just to follow-up I was able to correct the issue by copying the backup of the trends from before the version upgrade, but I also had to go the YellowPages directory D:\DeltaV\DVData\YellowPages\Charts\lib and delete the contents from all workstations. Otherwise, as soon as I downloaded setup data, the wrong trend colors would propagate back. I think this is because the timestamp on the backed-up files was older than the default trends for version 13.3.1.I think I could have also done what you suggested manually edit every trend file, or alternatively manually resave each backed up file to create a newer time stamp and this also would have avoided YellowPages overwriting the files. I am surprised that the default trend colors for our installation include yellow and white since these are very difficult to see on a light colored theme. I wonder if these are intended for use with a darker theme.
