Looking for information on Configuring ASCO 580 Solenoids

Hello, I have a project where I have a CIOC pair with two baseplates. Along with this is an ASCO 580 manifold with 10 solenoid valves. I'm wondering how I configure the valves in DeltaV Explorer. I couldn't find any info in Books Online. Should I just configure them as if they are on baseplate 3? Does the manifold assembly have an address plug?

  • I suggest Auto sensing the CHARMs and they should be recognized as DO solenoid Valve CHARMs.

What version of DeltaV are you running? Prior to v13.3.1 a hotfix is required.

    Best regards,
    Rune

Thanks for the tip. We're not at the skid right now. We're developing the database, so I was trying to figure out on what CHARMS to land the DST's. The end user is on 13.3.1 and our development system is on 13.3.1.

If you only have 10 solenoid valves, I believe they will be CHARM 1 through 10 on address plug 8. In 13.3.1 you can manually configure them to DO Solenoid Valve CHARMs. I am trying to track down the ASCO documentation.

Thanks Rune! We really appreciate it. I checked ASCO's link in the CHARMS data sheet but couldn't find what I was looking for.
  • Hello,  As Rune mentioned, the valve manifold will start at baseplate #8. You can either count from 12 to 3 or 1 to 10.  Here is a link to the CHARM technical document (  ) Mapping instructions start on page 27.  Hope this answers your question.

Thank you!! This is what I was looking for>

What CHARM numbers do the valves occupy? Do they start at 96 and work backwards? Or start at the next available baseplate? Or is it configurable in some way?
  • In reply to Donal Costello:

    Donal,

I do not think it is configurable, but it depends on how many solenoid valves are connected to the ASCO 580 CHARM module. The valves will occuoy the last addresses of the CIOC. For example of there is 12 valves, it will be on address 8, if you have 24 valves it will occupy address 7 and 8. If more valves are included it will occupy more addresses up to 5-8 if there are 48 valves connected.

    Thanks,
    Rune
