Seeking a recommendation - PCI-E serial card for a Dell PC to connect via RS-232 to a DeltaV Serial port

The site has purchased a gas chromatograph (process analyzer) whose modbus interface runs in a Dell PC. I want to poll their Modbus slave via RS232 from DeltaV Serial port.

The vendor obtained a card from Amazon . . . so far no luck with communication. Anyone have good experience with an aftermarket PC card?

  I solved Modbus communication issues for new devices using a Modbus master simulator like QmodMaster available on net. In such way, it is possible to find some Modbus protocol details before to connect to DeltaV. A RS232/ RS485 converter could be necessary or not

  You could easily use the DeltaV Serial Card in RS232 Mode but that will limit 50 feet and special cable is needed.

  
  

  Make sure to match the pin out.

  
  

  If you have a chromatograph that has OPC server, that also could be an option for integration
