Unwanted content on the peripherals of Delta V post installation of a new ops station.

since installation DeltaV on a new ops station, there is lots of unwanted content on the sides of the screen

My operators are complaining, as now precious screen real estate is being occupied by unwanted content, and the dynamos are all squished.

Any help fixing this would be appreciated.

  • I have had this in the past after a new install also. It has to do with the windows screen resolution. Someone may have a more technical way of solving, but I closed DeltaV Operate and changed the windows screen resolution and reopened Operate. It took a few trial and errors but eventually found the setting that filled the whole screen.
  • What resolution are you running on this new operator station?

Does this resolution match the other operator stations resolution?

Based on your screen shot, it appears that you are running a high resolution and should be lowered.

    What version of DeltaV?

    • v13 was the first revision that supported full HD (1920x1080) but their are ways to get prior revisions to run in that resolution.
    • You probably should be running 1680x1050 for a supported wide screen format in pre-v13 revisions.

For some documented help with this, go into Books Online -> Operator Basics and Graphics Confguration -> Managing the DeltaV Operate environment -> Customizing the DeltaV Operate environment -> The Layout templates

  • In reply to Matt Stoner:

The change in resolution of the monitors is at the root of this. DeltaV Operate now uses a "Layout" file that allows the workstation screen real estate to be divided to match the size of your tool bar, Alarm Banner and Process graphics. The layout that is currently being used adds the three additional lists on the right side and is intended to be used with 4x3 aspect ratio displays on the newer wide aspect monitors. Since you describe this as unwanted content, it seems a default layout file is being used after the upgrade.

As Matt points out, if the screen resolution changed as a result of the update, the software is looking for a matching resolution layout file and has found this default file. Restoring the monitor resolution should allow your former layout file to be used and restore the same layout as before the upgrade.
