database import error

I tried to import my plant database to new proplus workstation because my last one crashed .

When I try to import to new database it is imported but with some errors. I checked imported database and I saw these problems whit my database:

1-there are not my plant libraries in the composite and module templates

2-all areas are completely empty (there are no modules)

3- sis network doesn’t contain any SLS controller(I have enabled DeltaV SIS in the system preferences)

I have to say I configured the new proplus from beginning.

I was wondering if help me to solve this issue.

Thanks in advance

  • Hello Samy,

Looks like the import is automatically cancelled by the system due to some errors.

I think one of the following might be the issue.

    1. The imported FHX file only contains a part of the database and not as a whole. The setup subsystem might be missing.
    2. The FHX file is not migrated, for example it is exported from v9.3.1 then imported to a proplus that is in v12.3.1.
    3. FHX file is corrupted.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

  • You can check the file ":\DeltaV\DVData\ImportExportProgress" to see specific errors. My first guess is that the user account that loaded the FHX did not have any SIS privileges and therefore none of the SIS came in.

It seems there is a bit of a curve ball with respect to importing SIS information from an *.fhx file of an entire database.  In the new database you need to be logged in with a username of a user in the *.fhx file that has SIS privileges.  For example.  You have an empty database and you create NEW_SIS_USER with SIS privleges.  As NEW_SIS_USER, you try to import the *.fhx file that has the whole database (users and SIS information included with the database).  The import seems to strip off the SIS privileges from the NEW_SIS_USER account and the SIS does not come in.

I think you need to log in to DeltaV as one of the SIS user accounts in the import *.fhx file for the system to import the SIS information.

    hi DBacker
thank you for your response i logged in with administrator that have all deltav privileges such as SIS .i did your recommendation i created new administrator account with all privileges but no answer again .
  • I don’t think adding a new administrator account with SIS privilege will work if for some reason the administrator account in the *.fhx file did not have SIS privileges.

I think you need to know the username and password for one of the accounts that is already in the “whole database” *.FHX file that has the SIS information in it.  You need to be logged into Delta V as that person and then restore the system.

Do you know if the administrator account in the *.fhx system that you had received already had SIS privileges?  It sounds like that account did not if you had to create a new administrator account and then add SIS privileges.

    Did you migrate your databse?

  • It would be helpful to post what the exact error(s) are from the ImportExportProgress.log file to provide better support.

There could be many reasons for errors when importing and seeing the exact error messages will help troubleshoot the real cause(s).

Note that the "ADMINISTRATOR" account does not have SIS privileges assigned to it by default. It does have all the other BPCS privileges, except USER_DEFINED privileges, and these are Sitewide.
