with order a add-on license to main license, does license use for all related delta V station?

Hi

it is a question for me,when we assign a license like as excel add-in for a operator, all operators can use this feature?I mean that to use excel add-in function in operator group we must order one license for all stations or order per no. of station?

above question is asked totally like as any extra feature license which can add to base license.for example for using control studio in operator station we have to order per no. operator or just order one for all operators.

another question is that as one event chronicle included in pro plus station license, for other stations like as App./operator station need to consider extra license??

also AMS station must be installed on which station category (base station ,application station) ?

  • Most licenses are per workstation not users, if you assign a feature license to a workstation then all defined users in DeltaV can access the feature on that (assigned) workstation, providing their security settings allows.

For the historian question, are you asking if you need an additional license to have the Event Chronicle on an App station? PRO+ and PRO stations include event chronicles, other workstations will require license to enable the feature.

All the info is available if you do a Google search for "Emerson PDS Application/Professional" many pdf's available listing what is included and what are optional features.

What component of AMS are you referring? ServerPlus or ServerClient? Server Plus can be installed standalone or on Application stations.

thanks dear AdrianOffield ,following are some others unclear point on me.
1-each work station requires a dedicated license to assign to it?for example for control studio online with one license can 3 operator work stations have access to it?(or Excel add-in for operator station usage need to order based on no. of operator work station?)
2-for event Chronicle license.I mean that does we have to order a separated license for other stations or one included in pro-plus is enough to work completely in delta V network?
3-|AMS serverplus requires.is it possible to install to pro-plus?(is it recommended to install on pro-plus regarding to existence system data base in pro-plus station or install in AWS?)
    thanks again

    Moji,

1 - Yes, each workstation requires a separate license for each required feature.  Question - why do you want to open CS online on 3 operator stations? I would just assign one operator station that can open CS online or use the PRO+ station.

2 - Event Chronicle is the DB that stores the events, you only need one per DeltaV (PRO+ already has license). Process History View application (PHV) is used to view the event DB from other workstations.  Operator licenses includes this application feature.

3- Yes, AMS ServerPlus can be installed on PRO+

All these design decisions depend on a number of factors that determine the best place to install the various DeltaV components.  How many DST's/workstations/clients do you have, these factors determine if AMS is installed on PRO+ or on an Application station.

    Hope that helps.

Many thanks AdrianOffield, your answers are so useful.
1-As you told correctly, can we dedicate one operator station for excel add-in function and order one excel add-in license for it.is it correct?
2-by this way,why we have a option to add event chronicle in related station,to have more than one identical DB as backup/fault tolerant feature?

    Moji,

My previous answer related to control studio online, yet you are asking about Excel add-in. These are completely different functionalities. What is it you are trying to do on the operator stations, view live DCS logic or display real-time data in an excel sheet?

Point 2 - PRO+ and PRO workstations have event chronicle as standard, you would need extra license to use event chronicle on Operator station.
