PI archive historian migration and data validation

After 2 years that we upgraded the DCS  some PI archive needs to be viewed for some data that are critical for our process team. So according to archive migration I have upgraded to new archive format.

After adding the extended data set to application station historian I saw that all data were not valid and they are not compatible with process range and faceplate . in your opinion where can I find the problem?

  • Are you using PI or Continuous Historian? PI uses ARCHIVE files, while Continuous Historian uses Datasets. Or are you converting PI archives to Extended Datasets because you have migrated to Continuous Historian?

The PI archives are indexed and the data must be matched to the PI Tag database with which the Archives were created. There are PI Tools that allow one to convert Archives and such. If you were to use the wrong PI database with an Archive, the data would be misaligned with the tags and you would get bizarre values out of range etc. Not saying this is the root of your problem, but if you had the wrong PI database when converting to the extended data set, it would explain things.

If you are still using PI, and are taking an Archive from a previous installation, if the new installation database was created from scratch, the indexing might not match. You would need to convert the old archives first using PI Tools. This would correct the indexing and match it to the new database. You need both database files for this utility and it will create a new archive.

Not sure exactly what you are working with. It would be helpful if you provided more detail such as versions and application names. I'm assuming you are referring to the conversion tool to Continuous Historian.

Thank you Andre Dicaire for your response but as I said I have already done PI migration (convert) with Legacy Continuous Historian Data Conversion in the DeltaV DVD base on the Continuous Historian Upgrade Planning Guide so in my opinion I did not wrong thing.
the extended data set that I added to system added with no error and the trend in all work station will be available but the data are not valid for example the pressure of discharge of compressor must be 190 bar but the data in the extended data set in considered date and time did not show that data .it shows 25 bar or in the other case same as the problem as I mentioned.i tried another PI archive migration to extended data set and checked it by adding to system again no valid data.
please recommend me in this case
