  • Maybe you could explain a bit more about what it is you are trying to do. The name of the DeltaV Application Station must be no more than 16 characters with letters, numbers and "_, -" as separators. Microsoft suggest not to use the underscore "_". server name should be indicative of its function. Many users set up a naming convention to make it easier to derive new names. They may use a prefix to describe the type of computer (OP, ENG, MNT, APP, HIST, OPC etc.) and use a number to denote multiple instances.

In this case, this would be an Application station dedicated to interface to an 3rd Party iFIX OPC server. You could use APP-OPC-IFIX. But that assumes you are using APP as a prefix for your Application stations. Or if you plan to add other servers, simply call it APP-OPC-01 (or whatever number makes sense). THen if you add a different OPC server as a data source, the name is not too limiting.

But you question also says you want to get historian data from an Ifix OPC Server. Firts, OPC servers can be Data Access, HIstorical Data Access and Alarm and Event. You cannot pull Historical data or Alarm and Event data into DeltaV. You can only integrate OPC DA servers data into DeltaV. So you see, your question is a bit confusing as we don't really know what your are trying to do.
