Quad Monitor Setup - Easiest Way to setup the Horseshoe

I searched for Quad and only got two articles. We don't setup new stations very often but when we do setting the quads up right is always a PIA.  Is there a cheat sheet or reference white paper on how to do it without playing the plug, unplug, power down, power up, cuss......repeat game until you just get lucky.  Thanks!!

  • Hi Jason,

Check in Books-On-Line, it has a few pictures and diagrams of the video cards and what monitors need to be plugged in where. I use the following basic process:
    1. Get the BOL article and locate the video cards that match my setup
    2. Plug in the monitors accordingly (DVI and DP)
    3. Power up and verify

Please note that the recommended process is to hook up the video cables first, then power up the workstation for the first time. It's also helpful to have your quad stand set up at the same time as well.

Ok so the books online for version 12.3.1 did not cover a T5810 workstation. On the T5810 you only have 4 dvi ports (2 per card) and no VGA ports. Here is the monitor/plug configuration that we identified to setup the horseshoe.
TOP VIDEO CARD LEFT PORT = BOTTOM LEFT MONITOR (2)
TOP VIDEO CARD RIGHT PORT = TOP LEFT MONITOR (1)
BOTTOM VIDEO CARD LEFT PORT = TOP RIGHT MONITOR (4)
BOTTOM VIDEO CARD RIGHT PORT = BOTTOM RIGHT MONITOR (3)
