DeltaV OPC Server Setup

Hello

I am in the process of setting up OPC server on the DeltaV system that i am working on. I am working with Emerson DeltaV ( s-series).

I have the file with .lia file format . This is what i have been given. and it says on the sheet provided that it is an OPC Remote server (250DV)

I just want to know if i need to download a specific software to activate the OPC server Like an OPC configurator software. I have worked with Cogenet DataHub and E+H OPC configurator before

Your help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

  • Hi,

Once the license is loaded into the DeltaV Explorer application, it should be visible under the System Configuration->Setup->Licenses, from here you need to assign it to the relevant station that is going to act as the OPC interface node.

Download the node and then use OPCWatchit (run this from windows run window), from any DV node.  If run locally (on the designated OPC interface node), you need to browse for a OPC item and check communications are working.  If run from another DV node, remotely, then you’ll need to change the server from within OPCWatchit to point to the OPC interface node.

FYI, a DeltaV application station license already includes a 250 OPC point license, so I assume you are installing this on a DV system that has NO Application Stations, is that correct?

Every DeltaV workstation and server runs the DeltaV OPC Server out of the box.  Licensing the server and connecting to it with an OPC client is all you have to do.  You will need to install the OPC Remote software on the client computer if you are using a client that is not on the DeltaV network or doesn’t have DeltaV installed.   OPC Remote can be found on the DeltaV installation disks.
