Flushing the DV operate Cache

Hi,

I am not sure whether I am making any sense here, but I would like to see if there is any way to Flush the Cache in DeltaV Operate?  Would rebooting the PROPLUS do the same thing?

Thanks

  • What do you mean by cache? And why do you think you need to "flush the Cache"?

The DeltaV communication layer "prunes" unused data references continually. The layer hangs on to the Nodes and Modules that are referenced, but after a period of time, the parameters from those modules are removed (Pruned) and no longer sent. The values per second received will drop automatically once the operator stops scrolling through displays, leaving only the data currently required.

If you have cached displays, the data for these displays will not prune as they appear to the communication layer as active displays.

On workstations that are not running DeltaV Operate, the pruning of parameters happens within seconds. DeltaV Operator keeps parameters alive so that data is readily available to the operator when they toggle between displays. When a value is pruned, it is removed from the communication layer in the proxy client and server (controller end) but the module remains. When the value is again required, the console advises the Proxy server to add the parameter to the next send, typically in 1 second.
