DeltaV Export Channels with relevant control studio in EXCEL file

Dear Friends

i'm going to prepare an excel file for client that each channel has been used in which control studio (Module name). i tried to do it with Bulk Edit, but i couldn't do it.

may i ask you please help me, how can i prepare a list of channels with the used relevant Module name in excel file ?

as you know, we have this facility in DeltaV explorer in LAUNCH I/O CONFIGURATION, but it's impossible to export this list in excel file. i need to have this list in Excel !

your prompt reply would be highly, highly appreciated.

Best Regards

  • If the data shown in the "Launch I/O configuration" view is good for you, I would recommend that you use a utility called SysExporter which allows grabbing data from a list view into a text file. SysExporter is freeware and can be downloaded from http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/sysexp.html

Thanks a lot Elvin, i will try it. is there any solution in DeltaV in this regard?
  • In DeltaV you could use BulkExport / BulkImport using the file Channels.fmt. (See File|Import|User defines or File|Export|User defined). For specific channel types there are other fmt files to specify type-specific parameters. The result is a comma-separated file, which can be imported into Excel. You can adapt the fmt file to your specific needs.

Dear Maarten, Thanks a lot, actually, i tried to use this solution before for merging two files (one for channels, one for module name), but in all format, there is no common specific item in the files for comparing these two files and finding each channel for any module name.
  • There's a similar topic here (), where a variety of text parsing and 3rd party utilities were discussed.

Also, if you're at DeltaV 12.3.0 or higher, you can use the License Manager utility. This will show you Controller, Card, Channel, DST, Tier (AO, AI, DO, DI), and the object that's using that channel. I can't recall if this is directly-exportable to a delimited file, or if you can copy/paste directly into Excel. I've found this very useful in the past for generating an as-configured I/O listing for comparison to the physically-wired points.
