Hi
We are migrating from DV9 to DV12 in a few monthes and I have to check if the third part programs we have created still compatible with DV12 features.
So, I would like to install a virtual machine to gest "DV12 Batch Historian Server" and my (long) tests didn't succeed :
- First, I build a virtual machine with W7-64 SP1 and I have installed "Station Application" (STAPP) software.- At the end of installation, STAPP require a CFG file from the PPlus. My problem is that the PPlus I have installed for my tests is a "Simulate" and when I give the CFG file to the "Workstation config" program, no workstation name appears in the list.It seams that a STAPP isn't able to communicate whith Simulate.--> Can someone confirm that ?I have tryed a CFG file form a real DV9 PPlus, but file version are not compatible.
- Second point : Until the STAPP not completely configure, I'm not able to install the "Batch Historian Server" on it.The setup error message I read is "SQL2012 Standard Edition cannot be installed on Windows 7 Workstation"Funny, because SQL2012 is already installed on the machine (with the STAPP installation)--> So, new questions :Do I make a mistake to try to install "Batch Historian Server" on a "Station Application" ?Is it really W7 that is the problem ?I have also try a "Windows Server 2008" instead, but the setup immediate message tell "DeltaV cannot be installed on this operating System. Please refer to KBA AP-1000-0015 for the list of supported Operationg Systems"Is there a link to this document ?
On the DV12 DVDs, I didn't find any information/documentation about required OS for each software ...Thanx for help
---------------------------------- Few hours laterI have spent more hours to try to setup a ProPlus (not Simulate) and generate a CFG file. The result is the same : No "Workstation Name" apprears after having browse for the CFG file.Note that my DV-Network is empty - no controller configured.Could it be the reason ?
Couldn't find a server requiremement for batch historian in the standard KBA's. Only recommendations to use W2008 for application stations. Mind that only Server 2008 SP2 32-bit OR Server R2 SP1 64-bit are supported. Do you have a simulate license for the application station? Can the app. station ping the Pro+ over the network?

Thank you Robert
You are right : without a download - that I am not able to perform - the initial (empty) SQL Server tables are not created and I can't check the structure :-(
"batch historian administrator will still be available to convert the database files" I don't find the way to.
Because I cannot really check it, I have to wait that my Guardian account to be re-activated and try to find the theorical information in.
Thanks again.
