Using the Continuous Historian on machine configured as Batch Historian & Batch Executive

Hi DV Experts

My question is can we enable & use DeltaV Continuous Historian on  machines configured as Batch Historian & Batch Executive. I would like to use this 2 machines as DeltaV OPC History server to extract history data on XL reporter.

Has anyone done this before?.

Is there any Emerson documentation which advises against enabling & configuring the CHS on Batch Historian machine & Batch Executive machine?

Will enabling CHS on BEX & BHS impact the performance of BEX & BHS considerably?

Thanks

  • I would avoid putting any other function on the batch executive. The executive is too important to operations to risk increasing the number of potential failure points to that system. I don't think there is specific guidance to avoid putting the Batch historian and continuous historian on the same server, but recognize that as the number of services on a Windows server increases, you start running into heap allocation issues. This is generally why it is recommended for each mission critical function, a node is dedicated to that function and little else.

Thanks for your reply. I thought the same. Just needed some confirmation before deciding on the issue.
