RPC Failure in P Station

Dear Friends

actually, i have enough license for installing 10 P stations in my system network.

i started to install the P stations one by one. after 3th P station, i had a RPC failure in P station. it means the first and second P stations are OK with a good communication with P+, but for 3th and next all P stations some times i have RPC failure.

when i restart 3th or 4th or any next P station, the station is connected to P+ and Deltav explorer can be open, but after 2 or 3 minutes and whenever i want to open any control studio, the RPC failure is appeared. the P+ & P stations have this specification: CPU intel core I5, 500GB HDD, 4 GB RAM. meanwhile, in system network, there are almost 30 controllers.

would you please help me for solving this problem or share your experience in this regard?

Many Thanks for your kind consideration and support.

  • Is this a Domain environment or workgroup? Are timezones configured correctly on all workstations and do you have NTP server configured?
  • Hi Pouya,
is this problem the same as you asked about in and earlier thread?
If I look at your specifications it looks like you are using normal PC:s as "server".
Do you have win 7 installed or a server 2008?
A real server machine would have tons of more power to do multitasking because of the 16 cores thats inside.
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/4494.windows-server-troubleshooting-the-rpc-server-is-unavailable.aspx here you can read about RPC.

Is this workgroup or Domain ?
Have you checked the switches for possible errors or wrong connections of cables?

Dear Niklas, actually, it's different with old issue. i have installed Win7 and this is for FAT test of only application and HMI, the main stations are available in the plant and actually i am installing these stations for our workshop.
    Thanks.

actually, it's Workgroup and timezone have been configured correctly. but i have not implemented NTP server.
    Thanks
  • In reply to Pouya:

As Niklas is indicating, Windows 7 is limited in the number of connections it can service including RPC connections, hence the reason for larger systems run with Windows Server, allowing for many more concurrent connections. If you turn off other P nodes, reboot the P+ then try connecting one of your newer P nodes, I expect it will connect OK without RPC errors.

Thanks a lot Adrian. i will do it and inform you of the result.
