Using Process History View

Hello,

I want to use Process History View to monitor a pressure control loop to determine how it performs to catch some pressure spikes.

How can I set this up to record values even if i am not logged on DeltaV?

Thanks

  • Is Continous Historian already set up?

If so, all you need to do is find the correct control module in DeltaV Explorer, right click, and select "History Collection."

Click "Add" and browse to the specific parameter you want to monitor, check the "enable" box, and then select a sampling rate.  If you want compress the data, you can go to the advanced tab and configure it so that it only captures a point that deviates a certain amount from the last captured point.  This is probably not necessary unless you plan to start sampling a lot of parameters.

    Thank you,

I am on a Remote Terminal and Continous Historian is not setup. How do I setup Continous Historian ?

I want to use Process History View to trend the data over the next 3  months.

What version of DeltaV are you using and what different workstations are on the system?  Do you mean that Continuous Historian is not configured on the workstation you are on, or not at all?

Usually it would be enabled on an Application Station, if you have one.  To check, go to DeltaV Explorer, expand the physical network, and then expand each of the stations one at a time.  Under each station right click on "Continuous Historian" and go to properties.  See if the "Enabled" checkbox is selected for any of them.

  • Also, make sure the ‘default data servers’ are properly configured in the PHV client.  Sometimes, new sessions on remote terminals do not have PHV configured, defaulting to the local machine (RCS Host) as the source of historical data.

Check the list of available servers in the PHV configuration form and confirm a history server does exist.
