Electronic Signatures - OPSUP Field

HI,

I am trying to make a security policy for an electronic signature to be required for an operator to suppress an alarm. I have configured the OPSUP field which works OK if the value is written to via a normal datalink, however this does not fuction via the alarm list\activex displays. It works fine in these displays for alarm ack's just not suppression. Do I need to do something special for these or am I missing something?

Regards.

  • Can you provide screenshots of the policy?  Do you have "ALARMS" configured in the parameter confirmation?

  • In reply to Otto Von Steele:

I have added the "ALARMS" to the parameters tab with no effect, it still doesnt work from the right click menu on the alarm list displays. I dont understand how the NALM field works as expected yet the OPSUP does not, looks like an "undocumented feature" to me..

Has anyone every found out a solution to this thread? i am running across the same issue.

You guys are talking about OPSUP field but yet are configuring in the Parameter tab, just try adding OPSUP to the Field Tab and don't add anything in Parameters.

You then also have to make sure the entities have the Signature Policy assigned by right clicking the item(s), select Electronic Signature, select Policy and click OK.

Note: If you are using Module classes for your instances you can do this at the class once and all the items will be updated, If you are not using classes or want to only have specific instances use the policy you will need to do this on every item unfortunately.

For more help on any of this electronic signatures go to Books Online -> Configuration -> General Configuration -> Electronic signatures -> Configuring electronic signatures

So this is what i have found out. It will work from the detail faceplate if configured like Matt suggests above, but for some reason if you do it from the DeltaV Alarm Summary Configuration item, example by right clicking on a loop faceplate for instances it will not work, atleast not for me. Am i missing some type of hotfix?

Looks like you have found a potential bug and should log this with Global Support Center (GSC) . Not sure about a hotfix for this but GSC will let you know if one exists.
