Hi.
I manage several DeltaV systems in a lab and we move the dongles around from time to time as we don't have enough of them. Is there any way to retrieve the license ID remotely? From the command-line (using PSEXEC), or WMI, or something else? Thanks
HI Jorge
from command line try watchit
path DONGLEDRIVER
hope will help you

In reply to Dawid.Zieba:
There is also the "SYSTEMIDKEY" path that can be used. One of them works on any node on the system, the other I think only works on the system with the dongle attached. I think SystemIDKey is the one that works on any node. Still using Watchit.
These do not work with OPCWatchit, so remotely accessing this is not a command line item.

Sorry Dawid but I wasn't clear enough: I meant a remote command-line, not the local one.
Thanks.

Does that mean we can utilize the same hardware dongle for multiple ProPlus stations?
I think the group was responding to whether it is possible to retrieve the id information remotely, not the actual license.
You cannot share system ids across multiple production systems. There are ways to share usb resources over an Ethernet network, however this is in violation of EULA with Emerson, I believe.
You should discuss options with local Emerson office or LBP for setting up what describe as a "lab" system. Is it for training, or running equipment in a manufacturing research lab?

I use the AnywhereUSB/14 module for my Operator Training System license keys. You have to use the 14 port model for this to work as it is the only one that allows multiple connections. You set up Groups in the hub so one USB port is in each group. Then software on the client connects to a single group. The connection is held, even when things reboot. Nothing else can connect to that group unless you go disconnect the first one. This allows me to put all my USB key computers into VM's very nicely while maintaining proper licensing. This solution is also "VMware supported".
Hope this helps.
