Can't get my virtual ProPlus and my virtual Professional to talk, any ideas

I have a DeltaV Simulate multi-node virtual ProPlus with 4 Professional licenses for remote clients to the ProPlus. I've created a separate VM of a Professional station and I've created a pair of virtual networks that use the DeltaV IP addressing. When setting up the Professional I exported a Workstation Configuration file from the ProPlus and used it to set up the Professional. The problem I'm running into is they are not communicating. I'm running VMWare Workstation 10.0 on a Windows Server 2012 host machine.

Anyone made something like this work?

You'll have to get the host's nic's straightened out first.

If you go to start-> All programs -> VMWare - Virtual Network Editor you'll get something similar to the screenshot below:

Each nic on your host can be assigned here to a specific virtual network. In my case, I don't have any controllers or items that physically need to connect outside of my host so I have VMNet2 set to host-only. In your case, you may need to adjust which VMNet is assigned to which Nic. For example, in the SS above, VMNet0 is bridged directly to one of the Nics on my host, so every "virtual nic" I assign to VMNet0 will be bridged to that physical nic. Like-wise, if I select VMNet2 that is a "virtual nic" on my physical computer that allows my host and anything assigned to that VMNet to communicate, but not outside of that.

Once that piece is straighened out, you'll next have to look at the Network Adapter settings for each VM. The settings screen should look similar to my screenshot below:

In this case, my deltav primary and deltav secondary are both connected to vmnet2. You'll need to make sure that if you have different physical networks configured that they are assigned correctly to deltav. To check this, uncheck the "connected" checkbox on one of the nics and verify which nic that Represents (DV Pri or Sec) then assign it to the correct VMNet.  All of your virual machines need to be assigned to the same networks in the same way... meaning that if you have A physical port of your host dedicated to the DeltaV Primary network, assigned to VMNet1 and the Secondary is assigned to VMNet2, All of your virtual machines need to be setup this same way as well. When I've run into this before the problem is either the different VM's being assigned different networks (VMNets), or, the DeltaV Pri/Sec are misconfigured on the VM. You'll want to manually assign the VMNets, Workstation tries to do it automatically for you but is pretty bad at guessing what you actually need.
