Redundant Proplus Configurations

Hi,

Is it possible to have a redundant Proplus configuration. If one proplus server fails, the redundant one will take over.

Regards,

Resham

  • There is no option for redundant pro-plus, but consider that the Pro-Plus as the control database server does not require high availability like a historian or batch executive does for uninterrupted plant operations.

The best solution for preparing for a failure of the pro-plus is to setup a hot spare that is ready to take the role.  If the DeltaV system is a domain, then the hot spare should be another domain controller.  Take frequent database backups and store the backups on the hot spare.  Set up the hot spare with DeltaV installed and ready for workstation configuration.

When the pro plus fails, remove the failed proplus from the network, run workstation configuration on the hot spare, create a new database from the backup.  Downloading the new pro-plus will sync it with the controllers and other nodes.
