I was running DeltaV 10.3. We are currently putting in a large expansion to our production facility where I will need to scale up our DeltaV licenses significantly One device in particular is a Brooks Fieldbus MFC where i will be installing about 80 of these instruments. The control scheme for this MFC requires the use of two AI, two DO, and two AO blocks and under version 10.3 this counts as 6 total DSTs for the control module. I know the I/O DST counting changes in newer versions of DeltaV so I would only need to purchase 80 AO I/O DST because it is the highest ranking DST and all the others are assigned to the same device. My LBP found that the new licensing rules apply with version 10.3.1, so I had the service pack installed on my system to take it to version 10.3.1.
After the installation of the service pack my licensing count for I/O DST did not change at all. It still shows the same amount of AI, DO, and AO DSTs used. However, when I open the control modules for my existing fieldbus Brooks MFC the total DST count under the properties tab now reads 1, as expected. I also had a few fieldbus 848Ts which use the MAI block. Under 10.3 this counted as 8 DSTs, but then after the service pack upgrade the control modules now show a DST count of 0.
My question is does anyone know what count is correct and has anyone had any experience with this type of issue and the I/O licenses? The reason I'm interested is because I can save ~$40,000 in I/O licenses if I only need to purchase AO licenses for these Brooks MFC.
