New faceplate requires restart of DeltaV Operate

When I create a new faceplate and push it out to workstations, I have found that DeltaV Operate will give a faceplate not found error despite the new faceplate .grf being on the workstation. I have to close DeltaV Operate and re-open it to get Operate to pick up the new faceplate. When you have remote workstations and workstations that are in use 24/7 this is inconvenient. Does anyone know of a way to get a new faceplate to work without restarting Operate?

This is only an issue with a completely new faceplate, not changes to an existing one.

  • Have you run the Update Popup Pictures? This is the white looking faceplate on the DeltaV_Utilities toolbar. If you don't see this, then click on the WorkSpace menu item, Select Toolbars... and then check the box for DeltaV_Utilities with Owner WorkSpace selected.
  • It has been our experience that DeltaV Operate is only aware of graphics that were existing when Operate started. This applies to new Faceplates, Details, and Process Graphics.
  • I am running DeltaV 13.3.1 and just tested what you describe and received the same error message. Matt Stoner's suggestion has to do with multiple faceplates so you can open up to 4 copies of the same faceplate, and while this should be run for new faceplates, it doesn't force DeltaV Operate to refresh the faceplate list. SBPosey's experience matches my experiences too. The system will recognize new main graphics, but not new faceplates or detail pages or User scripts until the program is restarted.
