Tablet running Operate - show on screen keyboard (OSK) only on Tablet?

&   had some good thoughts a couple years ago on getting OSK to appear on a touchscreen display . . . what if I only want to see a target (say in a toolbar) to open OSK when I was logged into the tablet?

There's already a number of targets on the toolbar that operators don't use so maybe they'd ignore it.

Does Operate know if it's open in an RDP session? Maybe there's a variable that can toggle visibility of such a target . . . or just load a different toolbar for that session? Something in the Layout file for the RDP host maybe?

Thanks,

John

  • You might be able to tie the visibility to which operator is logged in. I'm not sure if Operate knows that it's on an RDP. Someone else will need to answer that one.

I have a partial solution at least as long as we're running "Operate", creating a toolbar exclusively for the machine hosting the remote clients, which has a target that launches OSK. Since the Pro-Plus console session is not used for running "Operate" this might suffice.
The only issue we see it that once a faceplate is open and a dialog appears to type a new setpoint or output, clicking the OSK target does nothing. Even if OSK is open and minimized, it can't be accessed to enter numbers. I can see where one might use a click in the entry field to launch the keyboard, but we don't want this happening in normal "Operate" sessions.
