Trying to communicate with EIOC to a AB Powerflex 70 drive using ethernet ip

Using a EIOC ver 13.1 trying to communicate with a Powerflex 70-EC drive with 20-COMM-E communication card. Trying to use class 1 messaging using input assembly = 1 output assembly = 2 and configuration assembly = 6. Connection priority = scheduled, connection type = point to point and RPI = 400 ms. Input size = 8 bytes and output size = 4 bytes. It will not communicate successfully with the drive. I get 'device no comms' status in diagnostics. Have tried many different sizes of input/outputs different connections. Will not communicate. Currently just trying to read minimum control 16 bit reference / feedback from drive. Not trying to read datalinks. Have tried enabling all data links and reading them but no success. Anyone have suggestion on what parameters needed to communicate with this powerflex 70? I can communicate with this drive using Compactlogix PLC. With PLC drive works fine.

  • My experience is you should setup WireShark ethernet data capture (Freeware) and trace the communication. The network trace often reveals the source of the issue and it gives you tangible information to further the investigation.

The Powerflex 70-EC manual will document which assemblies to use to get the desired data. I am not familiar with this device. Are assemblies 1 and 2 correct? I don't think DeltaV makes use of the Configuration Assembly. Might set this to 0.

Hopefully someone can provide a device specific solution. And v13.1 is not a supported version for production. You should be at v13.3.1, which is now also no longer supported with the release of v15.
