What happens to a DVC6030 positioner during loop loss?

We recently received the following question from a customer:

What happens to a DVC6030 HART RTY positioner (model DVC-1265-844136)  attached to a double-acting actuator when current-loop is lost. I mean, a 0 mA signal is going to the positioner? According to quick start guide D102762X012 it seems the output A pressure lowers down to zero, and output  B pressure rises to full supply pressure. Is it correct?

  • Yes, that is correct. On loss of mA power, the DVC6000 with an A relay set up for double-action will go to full supply output on port B and port A goes to zero output.

(CHART TEXT) Double-acting (relay A) loss of power: Instrument goes to full supply air output at port B. A goes to zero air output.
