Support on CMF050 Flow meter and Transmitter: 2400SIA11B2EZZZ which gives 4-20mA output.

Got CMF050 Flowmeter for Refrigerant flow measurement.

Model: CMF050M320N0A2EZZZ

Transmitter: 2400SIA11B2EZZZ which gives 4-20mA output.

Measuring range of the sensor – 0-57.6 kg/min.

Given transmitter 24VDC power supply to L1 & L2 and  have taken current output from CHA + and – of the transmitter

For initial commissioning, We used a water pump which is giving a constant flow of 13-14 kg/min approx.

At Flow meter display flowrate is shown as 13.2kg/min, whereas the current output is 5.44mA, which corresponds to 5.13Kg/min.

Hence there is difference between the display and current output by the transmitter.

Also we observed that the density of fluid (Water) changes with the change in flowrate.

Answers welcome to solve this issue.

  • Hello

what else is in the loop? displays? PLC/DCS-AI? is it possible, that the loop can not be powered from the transmitter?

have you checked the configuration of the current output of the transmitter (again)?

how much changed the density parameter of water?

    Hello ,

This is for monitoring our refrigerant flow.
I have given the current output from the transmitter to the datalogger .
We have checked the current output config of the transducer.
I doubt the density parameter values will redo the test and revert you the same.

have you checked the event log of the transmitter?

do we talk about minor changes in the density parameter or higher percentages?

    Hi Prithvisaran,
Thanks for your questions. You can check to see if the transmitter is sending the correct milliamp values by doing a loop test from the display. Make sure your device is not controlling anything and is manual mode before starting troubleshooting. Then, from the display, simply press the select and scroll simultaneously for about 4 seconds. You will then scroll to offline maintenance, then offline sim and press select. You can then select Set MAO1/2 and select that. Select Set 4 mA - the transmitter will send a 4 milliamp signal. You should read that on your receiving end. You can then repeat with 12 mA and 20 mA. If all of these are reading correctly, then it is likely a configuration issue with the 4-20 mA output range. If they are not reading correctly, you may need to trim the outputs.

To check the 4-20 mA output range, go to offline maintenance, then offline config. Then select IO and CH A. Make sure your variable is set for mass flow and your LRV is set for 0 (lower range value) and your upper range value is set for 57.6.

As far as the density changing with flow rate, that should not happen. You mentioned it is water, but also mentioned refrigerant flow. If you know the temperature of the fluid and know what density value you should be getting, you can compare that to the transmitter value. It is possible that the liquid is flashing inside the meter and that would cause your density to read a lower value than you would expect. If you have something like that going on and you are operating near the vapor pressure of the liquid, it could be possible that as you increase flow, you are increasing your pressure drop enough to begin flashing.

I have already done the loop back test as you suggested and transmitter is giving correct output in that case.
If possible could you please share me the settings configuration manual for this transmitter.
  • In reply to Stefan Muellner:

    Hey ,
Checked density is constant through out the process and not varying.
My display flow rate value in the transmitter is accurate calibrated through measuring the output fluid in weighing machine for a minute ,
but my display value is not matching with the transmitter output mA value measured in the datalogger.

    Hey Tonya ,

It is working now issue is  cleared after mA configuration change in the transmitter

       Thanks guys  for your support.
