Density calculation of MV transmitter

I would like to know if process pressure or temperature is out of operation range set in MV configuration files. How the transmitter calculate fluid density?

  • Hi Qi Lou,

For MV transmitters, I presume you are referring to Rosemount 3095 or 3051SMV

(do correct me if I am wrong)

When the operating pressure or temperature exceeds the ranges (set during the MV configuration):

For 3095M: The device will hold on to the last density value calculated at the minimum/maximum configured temperature or pressure value.

For 3051SMV: The device will continue to calculate updated density using the current pressure and temperature.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Hi Andy,

Yes, I mean 3095MV and 3051SMV. We have both types in our company.

    Can I understand as below:

For 3095, the flow accuracy will be bad as far as the P and T away from its configured P and T range.

For 3051SMV, it will not impacte by this.

    Regards

    Hi Daniel

Sorry, did not realize you had a question there for me.

Yes, for the 3095 flow accuracy will become poorer as your actual P and T goes further away from the configured limits.

For the 3051SMV, there is no impact.

So we encourage most of our users to transition to the 3051SMV whenever there is replacement needed for the 3095. If you need more detailed discussion face to face, feel free to let me know.
